Name: Z'kani Akona Fotaeira
Race: Asrafel; a visual mix between angels and demons; a human body with wings (more detailed description below)
Gender: Female
Age: 210 (She isn’t immortal, Asrafel merely live for hundreds of years).
Element: Storm
Height and Approximate Weight: 5’7’’, 115lbs
Description of Appearance: Asrafelean skin is lit with a faint inner golden glow that shines from just below the surface (this glow will burn through thin materials like cotton, which is why Z'kani always wears leather or metal, or materials that her race has made; they are the only materials that don't end up turning into a bonfire), and Z’kani is no different. She has thick black hair streaked with gold and silver that falls to the bottom of her shoulder blades, and bright plasma blue eyes that are laced with silver, although her eyes can change colour with her emotions (an Asrafelean trait - only Z'kani can control her eyes though). Her eyes, as with any of her race, can see in any 'type' of light; such as infra red, ultra violet, thermal sensory etc. Very useful if there's no light to see by normally. Her build is slim yet inhumanly strong; she can punch a hole as deep as her arm is long into the side of a mountain, if she so wished. She has deep blue-black wings whose top half are feathered, the bottom half leathery membrane, similar to bat wings. These can extend out of or retract into their skin at will; leaving only two small white scars behind. This causes no pain as the nerve endings at their ‘wing sites’ were killed during their ‘winging’ stage (similar to human teething, only Asrafel have wings to deal with as well. Not fun for mum or dad, either).
She wears black leather or silver metal from head to toe, with her wings protruding out from two holes in the leather sleeveless tunic that grazes over her hips, just covering the waist of the long leather skirt that goes over knee-length shorts, made of a strange silvery material that seems like a mix between silver and cotton. She wears black knee-high boots, and sometimes wears lightweight silver gauntlets and vanguards.
History: Z'kani is in the equivalent of the secret services, working as a spy-come-assassin-come-whatever else she needs to be. True to her name, (Z'kani means deception) she has used her skills to work her way up the ranks and is one of the elite in her society, thanks to her seemingly unique ability to be able to 'control' her eyes - stop them from changing colour for each of her emotions. She hasn’t been sent out of the Northern Wastelands in the memory of any living human, but she has been out once or twice before on various missions. The Asrafel don’t usually deal with humans – they have far more ‘difficult’ neighbours to deal with. Essentially a warlike people, they are incredibly advanced in warfare; however they don’t use machinery or the like; they have their own ways of decapitating an army; usually through their source of magic which they call ‘haze’ which runs in veins in their wings, with only a small amount in the veins in their body. This haze can be used whether the wings are inside the body or outside it, and can be brought outside their body if the individual is well trained and skilled with magic, as Z’kani is. Z'kani herself refuses to say about her past before the start of her military career, which was a typical one; started off in the junior barracks getting bellowed at each morning, then worked her way up. However, only a few get to her place now, and there are only a handful who are presently higher in status than her; two of which are the leader and his sister, the so-called ‘royal family’, although the hierarchy has nothing to do with bloodline; it’s all about ability. Aunite; the leader, is the best there is. Hence he rules the entire race.
Education: The basics (all the academic stuff – Asrafel are very intelligent. They do what would be our A-levels at age ten) then how to fight, all the physical training and mission preparation. This covers spying to assassination, and everything in between.
Occupation: Whatever her current mission calls for. Whatever it is; it’s deadly.
Status in Community: Z’kani is one of the most famous and respected people in her community; almost like a mini-celebrity. She gets frequent orders from the leader personally, which naturally has started rumours going. However, very few are brave enough to ask her if anything is true, and those that know aren’t telling.
Current Home: Te Camdreas Aurtas (The Lost Hours), someplace in the Northern Wastes/wherever her mission takes her.
Personality: Snappy and seemingly cold, Z'kani often comes across as prickly as a wet cat, as the saying goes. In other words, she seems very grumpy and sarcastic all the time. She does have a fun side though, although what she thinks is 'fun' is usually dangerous in anyone else’s book. When she is with someone she is comfortable with, this side tends to come out more often, but she can switch back to being in a constant mood at a split-second. She's not the easiest person to get along with, but once she decides you're worth not killing just to shut you up, she can be quite a useful ally in battle.
Personal Premise/Ambition/Motto: Stupid sudil.
Other: Abilities:
Skoteimos Pyrkagia (Dark Flames):
Dark flames are sparked by the force that allows Z'kani's wings to retract into her shoulders to spin out in an increasing circle, dying out suddenly either when they reach the 100 metre radius limit, or when Z’kani cuts it off. The flames are both fire and darkness combined. This isn’t a very difficult magic, and can be performed quite often, although the limit in a heated, fast-paced battle would probably be five – she usually needs time to recover her magic afterwards, but then, there’s not many things that could escape it, bar another Asrafel.
Therastamos (Healing River):
Uses her wing haze to heal her wounds and broken bones. This takes rather more energy than Skoteimos Pyrkagia, and is probably limited to three times in the aforementioned conditions.
Haze Teleport:
Allows Z'kani to travel from one side of the world to another. As it has gotten stronger, it can be used in areas spanning only a few hundred metres as she learned to concentrate it. It can be used during battle.
This hardly takes any energy at all, although hazing to very specific places takes more power out of her than general ones. These don’t really have a limit.
Shell:
Z'kani can create a shell around her that can be formed into the visage of another person, and will be indistinguishable from a real human/whatever creature she is imitating. She can shed this shell whenever she wants, but leaves the empty husk behind, a body in a state akin to being on life-support - brain dead but the body is alive. The body can never be revived, and will die shortly by itself, if it's not killed straight away.
This is difficult; it can only be performed sparingly; once a month at least. It doesn’t wipe out Z’kani’s power, but her body needs time to recover from the change, although once a shell is in place, it can remain there indefinitely.
Note: Some of what Z’kani says will be in Asrafelean; since if I were to write it in English, it would have to be censored. This includes the second half of the motto/quote above.
