Kaye watched, impressed, as Lain got herself up and into the room. She paused in the doorway to survey the space, waiting for the others to enter first. Her eyes took it in quickly, recognizing that this room was much finer than any of the others. She guessed it was the owner's room from the quality rug and large bed. It wasn't likely it would be rented out to others.
Kaye double-checked the hallway behind her automatically as she slid into the room and leaned back against the wall, arms crossed. Clearly, she wasn't about to get the sleep she had been desiring earlier. Ah, well...
One of the men headed downstairs in search of ice. Kaye remembered seeing some in the chest in the back room. She was silently impressed; the ice must have some sort of charm on it to keep it cold in warm weather. She wondered how much that would have cost, and then decided that the restaurant owner must be doing a lot better than he appeared to be.
Minnel set his bag down on a small dresser next to the bed. An oil lamp sat on it, and he asked for it to be lit as he rummaged through his bag. The low light set the silver and green in the room in rich contrast, casting heavy shadows on the walls from the five figures.
A moment later and the ice appeared. Minnel wrapped Lain's ankle, and then chased everyone out of the room. Kaye ignored his gestures to the others, remaining against the wall. He made shooing gestures at her, and then paused. "Oh, you must be Kaye. I'll get to you after I'm done with Lain, here."
"I'm fine," Kaye replied shortly. She needed rest, not a healer.
He paused, as if to argue with her or send her out, and then changed his mind and shut the door. "Now then," he mumbled, and returned to the bed, pulling the cloth wrapped ice away from Lain's ankle. He carefully began feeling the bones and tendons, searching out all the damage that his nimble fingers could find.
