One account per player. You may have up to 10 characters at a time, but they should all be under ONE account.
Identity is open to all RPers of all skills. The following is a list of standard practices and is mostly a matter of common sense.
Be respectful of other players:
Accounts (and characters) may not have vulgar/distasteful names.
Keep swearing to a minimum. Do not use the “f-word.” There is no need for it.
This is a PG-13 board. Keep your posts appropriate.
If you have a disagreement and need to work something out with another member(s), do so in PMs, not in threads/posts. If you need help resolving a disagreement, contact a staff member for help. That’s what we’re here for.
If you feel you are being harassed by another player, report it the staff immediately. Harassment (including malicious ridicule of another player, abusive posts/PMs, etc.), will not be tolerated. I don’t have any patience for this and will remove you from the board.
On Posting:
When role-playing, we require at least one paragraph per post. RPs are usually character-driven more than story-driven, so write enough to keep it interesting. Ultimately, however, we are looking for quality posts, not quantity of words.
Keep your posts readable. Using a color that blends into the background is very annoying to try to decipher. Try not to do that.
Use good grammar in your post. No one’s going to edit your post, but it makes it much easier to read when you use good grammar and structure.
Don't reply to other player's character biographies. Only staff may reply and accept (this keeps the bios from getting cluttered and makes them easier to read).
Try not to double or triple post. If you need to fix or add something to your post, use "modify" at the top.
On Characters:
Keep your characters interesting and complex. They should be flawed but someone we can feel empathy for, as well. Don’t make anyone perfect. (If you create the “perfect” god-like character, you’ll be asked to change it.)
If you no longer want to play a character(s), they should either die or be “adopted” by someone else. If they are in a thread that you no longer want to play, role-play them leaving the scene.
Identify your character at the start of the thread (or their entrance to the thread). You can be creative, just make sure we know who they are.
Only write what your character thinks/feels/does, not what the other player’s character says or does. (In other words, no power-playing.)
Please place everything your character says in bold and/or a different color, so that other characters can respond more easily to your posts.
Your character’s animal counterpart will age at the same rate as their human self. In other words, even though a dog is only a puppy for two years before reaching maturity, in Identity a human-dog shape-shifter would be a puppy for 16 years (until both human and animal reach maturity).
When creating your character, please be sure to completely fill out the form. You can add as much information (or more categories) as you want, but make sure all included areas are complete.
Characters of any age or gender can get into fights. The players should judge who wins the fight (if you are having trouble deciding who wins, contact a staff member, who will choose for you). Remember to keep the violence and gore at a PG-13 level.
You may create a character of any age, but keep in mind that people can’t speak well until age 4-5 and most people don’t live past the age of 70-75.
If you choose to have a character be a child, make sure that they have a parent or caregiver. Children under the age of nine cannot live without an adult caretaker.
Humans will become adults at the age of 16. Until that age they may be limited by what they can do.
You cannot create a mythic creature or play under the "Northern Wastes" until you complete the Star/Storm Application. See the Star/Storm Character Rules for more information.
Posts in the Northern Wastes need to be at least 400 words (we would prefer 600+).
On Images:
Signatures are allowed, but keep in mind that they tend to be distracting. Signatures should not exceed 200-300 pixels high x500 pixels wide. (You can PM me if you have something you absolutely have to have that's larger than that.)
Images/Signatures should not contain any inappropriate material (remember that this is a PG-13 board). They also should not link to an “adult” site or forum (anything exceeding the PG-13 level). You can advertise that elsewhere.
Do not use someone else’s image (unless they made it for you or you have their permission). It is copyrighted material.
