From the Writings of Man’ake the Explorer
Man’ake and his bonded, Seara, recorded and mapped much of the known world, as well as the far lands to the south and east. During his travels, he kept careful documentation in what was happening with the shifters and other nations. This is a rarity as most dragons at the end of the Engarda Era were focused mainly on the downfall of their great city, Engarda.


2742 Engarda Era

The shape-shifters have built a camp at the base of Shadow Lake. We expect them to continue to push northwards. The wolves are readying themselves for war under the Pack Leader Dayr. He has gained recent popularity with his promises to drive the shifters back to their homeland in the lowlands surrounding Irin Bay.

The Hein’ara are concerned that the skirmishes between the shifters and the wolves will devolve into an all-out war that will call up the ancient spell casters that lie under the frozen peaks. Since my people were some of those to put the Ancients in the frozen lands, we share their concerns. But the shifters are a short-lived people, with an even shorter memory.

The centaurs dwelling on the Sar Plain south of the bay have sent to Engarda by hawk, requesting help as their camps have been overrun by the shifters of the new southern city, Ta’Vanath. They say that the shifters are claiming the plain as their own, and have renamed it the “Horse Plains,” an insult to the horse-like centaurs who currently dwell there.

The shifters are using a new magic, enhanced by the Air Stone, that causes explosions. They attack the home camps of the centaurs, along with the battle camps, and are rapidly driving the Sar Plain centaurs to the south past the far Southern Mountain Range. Engarda has promised help, but we are fighting our own internal wars, so I doubt the dragons will bring much help. I expect the centaur’s will permanently lose their ancestral home to the greed of the shape-shifters.


2743 Engarda Era

Tyr has taken the throne at Engarda, along with the Storm Stone. Many doubt his leadership abilities. The Council may overthrow him.

In the meantime, the war with the shifters has grown brutal. The northerners have banded together and are driving them from Shadow Lake and the surrounding mountains, but it is a slow process. The unicorns have chosen to aid them (a rare occasion, which shows just how bad things have gotten), and much of the southern end of Shadow Lake is rapidly becoming a frozen wasteland. The amount of death is tragic, but only a few of my people have gone south to help. The rest are caught in our own internal war for power. It is a tragic day when the dragons cannot restore peace.


2801 Engarda Era

Civil war between the Southern Air Callers and the Northern Earth Callers has ended the shifters’ expansion. I am told that the Guardians of the Fire Stone are caught between the Karhan air nation and the Rhyallian earth nation warring factions, and many have been killed. Their great city of Saidesh is currently in ruins. This is a disappointment to Seara, my mate, who has traveled to Saidesh on numerous occasions to learn about the Fire Stone. She has gone in search of the Fire Guardians to learn if any still survive. I hope for her sake that the High Guardian, Ven, still lives as they are good friends.


2801 Engarda Era

Seara has returned with the terrible news that Ven is dead and the last Guardians have disappeared with the Stone. She also learned that the Air Stone has cracked and may have been destroyed. It appears that Rhyallia will soon be the victorious ruler of all the nations of the shifters.


2910 Engarda Era

Sa’Vekath has murdered Tyr and proclaimed himself ruler at Engarda. He is demanding that a new Era be named after him. I have just learned the news from where I am currently staying at Karnaim. The Council has grown weak, and his warriors have currently killed nearly half of the 12 members. If he does not destroy the dragons, I will be surprised. Allyaya, Tyr’s half-sister, is already suggesting war.


2912 Engarda Era

Engarda has been destroyed and the brutal Sa’Vekath is dead. I am not sorry to see him go, but I wonder if I have seen the end of the greatest era of the dragons. While Engarda stood, we were a center of power, justice, and learning for all the nations.

The southern peaks of the Castan Range are currently a wasteland from the wars and the northerners have a deep hatred for the shifters. Several have taken to hunting the shifters and killing those foolish enough to enter the Castan Mountains.
